The public procurement process for "Tail Spend Management Services" has been initiated by The Association of North East Councils Limited (NEPO). This procurement falls under the industry category of electronic marketplace retailing services and pertains to the United Kingdom. The procurement stage is currently at the Award phase as of June 11, 2025, following the completion of a competitive procedure with negotiation for above-threshold contracts. The framework, which has an estimated value of £750,000,000, commenced on July 1, 2025, and spans a period until July 1, 2031. The tender was published on May 30, 2024, and the tender period concluded on November 22, 2024.

This procurement offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in managed services and supply chain management, particularly those focused on tail spend management. The framework is ideally suited for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), offering them the chance to manage low-value, ad hoc services for public sector organisations via a managed service model. With an emphasis on creating a robust and accredited supply chain accessed through an online platform, businesses with capabilities in digital solutions, logistics, and procurement will find ample opportunity to expand their client base and enhance service delivery efficiency. The awarded supplier, Nomia, exemplifies an SME taking advantage of such opportunities for growth and sector involvement.
