Summary of the contracting process

The Department for Education (DfE) is initiating a procurement process for the National Poetry Recitation Competition, classified under Education and training services. This process is currently at the planning stage, with a key milestone being the engagement end date set for 21 January 2019. A supplier event is scheduled for 23 January 2019 at the DfE's headquarters in London, where organisations can learn more about the DfE's requirements for the competition. The anticipated delivery for the competition is expected to commence in September 2019, culminating in a national competition before March 2020, with an indicative contract value of up to £360,000 including VAT.

This tender presents significant opportunities for organisations with expertise in poetry, education, and event facilitation. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, either independently or in consortiums, to contribute creative and educational insights that support curriculum activities. By engaging with this procurement, businesses can not only expand their portfolio but also play a vital role in enriching the cultural and educational experiences of students across England.

Notice Title

National Poetry Recitation Competition

Notice Description

The Department for Education (DfE) intends to undertake a procurement exercise to find a supplier for a National Poetry Recitation Competition, and accompanying suite of resources. Prior to this, the DfE wish to undertake a market engagement activity for interested providers to learn more about what the Department would like to achieve. This will be an opportunity for potential providers to share opinion and expertise in the delivery of a poetry competition in England and help the Department understand how it could meet its aims. We are interested in hearing from organisations who have expertise in poetry rather than solely event organisers. The purpose of any potential poetry competition will be to enrich pupils taking part and support curriculum activities. We are also keen to hear from organisations who can work in consortium or partnership. We would encourage organisations of any size with the necessary expertise to come to our event. We anticipate that a provider might start delivery to implement the programme from summer 2019 with delivery taking place from September 2019, running regional heats with a national competition before March 2020. The indicative estimated value of the National Poetry Recitation Competition is up to PS360,000 inc VAT. Additional information: A 2 hour supplier event is planned on 23rd January 2019 between 11:30-13:30 at: Department for Education Sanctuary Buildings Great Smith Street London SW1P 3BT This event will enable organisations to gain a better understanding of DfE's requirements and allow DfE to take on board feedback from potential suppliers about the format of the competition, and the scope of the potential opportunity. To pre-register for the supplier event (or for copies of the presentations if you cannot make it) please email: English.IMPLEMENTATION@education.gov.uk with the name of your organisation and attendees (maximum two). The following is an indicative timeline for procurement: - Feb - ITT goes live - March - Deadline for tenders received - March - Evaluation of poetry tenders - April - supplier selection and contract negotiation
