SLaM - Review of Care for Early Intervention in Psychosis Services
Notice Description
This review is in response to the changed national landscape of the NHS since the development of Early Intervention Services in Lambeth 30 years ago. The recent and ongoing development of borough based Alliances within Integrated Care Systems emphasises integration and the working across traditional boundaries of health, social care and the voluntary sector and across primary and secondary care. South London and Maudsley plans a community transformation of core services, within this national framework, with an emphasis on effective population health management and continuity of care. How the front end of psychosis services will best operate in this new context needs to be determined. The following guiding principles will be emphasised throughout the review process: * Drawing on innovative and evidenced based models providing early intervention for those with psychosis * Based on international best practice and national/local guidance * Promoting population health management with a focus on prevention (secondary and tertiary) * Promoting a collaborative/co-production approach giving service users and carers a voice in service design, delivery and evaluation of and participation in research * Taking into consideration the perspectives of borough based Alliances * Emphasising how professionals can work together, and with wider stakeholders, to improve clinical outcomes - reflecting a biopsychosocial model, collaboration with the voluntary sector and peer support * Emphasising continuity of care through a whole system and care pathway approach * Reflecting 'mind and body' integration; ensuring equitable provision of physical healthcare * Being outward looking and community facing; engaging community, family and friends * Focusing on individual needs with an emphasis on cultural appropriateness * Proposals and recommendations to retain and preserve the Trusts place as a leading example of best practice This review is in response to the changed national landscape of the NHS since the development of Early Intervention Services in Lambeth 30 years ago.
