Summary of the contracting process

The Haringey Council - Traffic Management has awarded a contract for "Intermediate Nursing Care Provision" under the regulated procedure without prior publication, reflecting the limited availability of registered nursing homes in the area. This service, which falls under the health and social work services category, is valued at £5,600,000 and spans from 1st August 2019 to 31st July 2027. The procurement process was conducted on a limited basis, concluding on 30th July 2019, and the primary location for service delivery is London, United Kingdom.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in intermediate nursing care services, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations. With the requirement for multi-disciplinary collaboration with community health professionals, businesses with established networks in healthcare and excellent local engagement will be well-positioned to compete. The focus on local service provision also opens avenues for community-oriented providers to make a substantial impact in the borough's healthcare landscape.

Notice Title

Intermediate Nursing Care Provision

Notice Description

The contract is awarded under the Negotiation Procedure without prior publication in line with requirements as competition was absent for technical reasons (Regulation 32 (2) (b)(ii). The Council believes that the reasons for the use of this procedure have been met due to the paucity of registered nursing homes in borough, and indeed nationally. Currently there are only 2 nursing homes registered by the Care Quality Commission in borough that is, this one and another, which is presently not in position to deliver this provision. The contract will deliver Intermediate specialist nursing care services. Access to and the efficacy of, Intermediate nursing care provision is reliant on community health professionals, within a multi-disciplinary team. The criteria for which is residence and registration with an in-borough GP, which would preclude use of out of borough provision as well as, lead to the loss of rehabilitative input which is the crucial element of this service
