Youth Empowerment
Notice Description
ere are more than 90,000 children and young people living in Newham and The Mayor of Newham's vision is that they should have access to the best Youth Service in London - providing young people with spaces to enjoy, support to achieve their best, and opportunities to make a difference in their community. The Mayor is committed to providing a partnership-led, borough-wide Newham Youth Offer, making the best of skills and expertise within the Council's youth service but also through commissioning providers to expand and enhance the offer. This is reflected in our corporate plan priorities: to deliver "a high quality, co-produced youth offer that provides a varied and inclusive range of activities." 1.2 To support this the Newham Youth Empowerment Service (NYES) is seeking to commission and collaborate with providers to deliver its phase 2 expansion of youth provision through four lots. All provision will be underpinned by the National Occupational Standards for youth work and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Delivery will start from early 2021 and run until 31 March 2023. 1.3 The Council's Community Wealth Building Agenda will be at the heart of the commissioning process to ensure that every penny invested in Newham benefits Newham's young people. This will support sustainable service development which gives young people opportunities to reach their potential and grow up in a borough that is safe and supports their wellbeing. 2.1 Our objectives are that through a high quality, collaborative youth offer, we will increase the numbers of young people engaging in youth services, grow youth leadership and increase the range of exciting and inspiring activities available in Newham. We are seeking partnership with providers who will build successful relationships with Newham young people and offer approaches that reflect their diversity and potential.
