Summary of the contracting process

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has successfully completed a procurement process for a framework to provide "Targeted Short Breaks Activities for Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)." The procurement, classified under the health services category and specifically focusing on daycare services for disabled children and young people, was conducted through an open procedure. Valued at £1,720,000, the framework aims to deliver a wide range of short break activities in the West Midlands, UK. The tender period ended on 9th December 2024, with the contract period scheduled from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2029, following the award announcement on 31st March 2025.

This opportunity is designed to support collaboration between various organisations, and it is particularly welcoming to SMEs and VCSEs, providing a robust platform for community and smaller service providers to expand their operations. Businesses with expertise in health services and who are capable of engaging families and children with SEND will find this framework beneficial for growth. Successful suppliers like Action for Children, Endorphins, and Sportworks, among others, have been engaged to deliver diverse activities, suggesting that organisations with similar capabilities could leverage this framework to broaden service offerings, enhance their market presence, and foster community partnerships.
