Notice Title

GB-Norwich: The Future of Local Government in Localities-District Council's Network Toolkit

Notice Description

The District Councils' Network (DCN) is a cross-party member led network of all 200 district councils who are members of the Local Government Association. The DCN are a Special Interest Group of the Local Government Association (LGA), and provide a single voice for district councils within the LGA. The DCN is commissioning this piece of work via one of its member councils, SNC. It will be the DCN officer team and associated policy officers that will be the key contact points for this piece of work with the provider. The DCN is commissioning a provider to develop a 'Future of Local Government in Localities Toolkit' to support district councils to get the best solutions for people and place in any local government transformation. Up and down the country districts are working with their districts and wider local authority and public sector partners to transform the way they deliver services in their area. From super district mergers in East Suffolk to unitary proposals in Buckinghamshire and Dorset, local authorities are considering the most effective way to deliver services to the people and places they serve. The DCN believes the principles underpinning local government transformation should be built on serving localities at a scale that resonates with their economy and community. The DCN wants to ensure that any future local government transformation is rooted in the principle of optimum outcomes for people and place and wants to support its membership to achieve this. We want to support districts in determining the best structural and non-structural models to deliver services at the right level by providing them with a tool to assess and evaluate their options based on the outcomes they want to achieve and their vision and equip them to taking the next steps on their transformation journey. We want Districts to share their knowledge and support each other to best serve their residents in an evolving local government landscape filled with challenges and opportunities. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
