Notice Information
Notice Title
Goldney House (Bristol) Feasibility Study
Notice Description
The University of Bristol wishes to identify capable and qualified Specialist Conservation (historic and heritage) and Planning Consultants who would want to express an interest subsequently tendering for a project to carry out a comprehensive development options appraisal for Goldney House and Attached Walls (Heritage Category: Listed Building, Grade II, List Entry Number: 1205899) and The Orangery (Heritage Category: Listed Building, Grade II*, List Entry Number: 1282328); both located in Clifton, Bristol. Together, these heritage assets form part of a site of exceptional architectural and historic value. The main house, its boundary structures and the Orangery require a outline development options appraisal to guide sensitive, conservation-led redevelopment and informal future use, in full compliance with relevant heritage and planning policy. The work will build a clear understanding of the site's current use, heritage constraints, operational performance, and potential, then identify and assess viable conservation-led options, before defining a preferred development strategy with supporting business case, cost plan, and implementation approach. The process will be collaborative, with iterative reviews and workshops involving the client team. Regular on-site presence and effective liaison with the project team and stakeholders will be required. To be considered, responders must provide documented evidence of: - Professional accreditation in heritage conservation (e.g., RIBA Conservation, Architect, IHBC member). - Proven track record in appraisals of both Grade II and Grade II* listed buildings of similar scale and complexity. (evidence of a lasting impact project with example of practice awards obtained over the last 5 years is required) - Strong local knowledge of Bristol's heritage context and established working relationships with Bristol City Council and Historic England. - Expertise in planning policy, listed building consent processes, and heritage risk management for high-grade assets. - Direct experience of working on heritage projects within a Higher Education environment, ideally involving complex stakeholder and governance requirements. - Local to Bristol (BS8) (within 1 hour travel time). Interested consultants should respond via the email address shown in this notice quoting this notice title and reference number. Responses must arrive no later than 12:00 midday on the closing date of this notice. After the closing date, responses will be assessed by the University (at its sole discretion) to determine suitability. This notice is not a call for competition to procure any services, supplies or works. The University is not obliged to follow up this enquiry with any interested parties in any way and it is not liable for any costs or expenses incurred by any party. A response to this notice does not guarantee any subsequent invitation to participate.
