Summary of the contracting process

The ESPO (Eastern Shires Purchasing Organisation) is initiating a tender for the "198_20 Water System Risk Assessment and Water Hygiene Monitoring" project. This procurement falls under the services category, with a significant estimated value of £16 million. The tender is currently in the open stage with a submission deadline of 12:00 noon on 9th November 2020. The contract is set to commence on 1st December 2020, lasting until 30th November 2022. This procurement has relevance across multiple locations within the UK, including Leicester where ESPO is based, and is accessible to various public bodies such as local authorities and NHS entities through an open procedure mechanism.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in technical testing, consultancy, and monitoring services, particularly those that are SMEs and VCSEs (voluntary, community and social enterprises). Companies that can provide water system risk assessments and hygiene monitoring are particularly suited to compete. The potential for additional framework agreements with ESPO Trading Limited means that there could be further contracting opportunities in the third sector, thereby enabling businesses to expand their client base while contributing essential services to public sector entities.
