Summary of the contracting process

Chard Town Council is currently seeking proposals for the installation of a solar panel system at the Guildhall, under the procurement process titled "Solar Panels, Guildhall". This open tender is set within the goods industry category and targets solar panel and installation services. The procurement is currently in the Tender stage, with a submission deadline of 17th December 2021. The project entails the installation of a 10.72kWp solar PV system and battery storage, with an estimated budget ranging from £15,000 to £20,000. The contract is expected to commence on 10th January 2022 and run until 25th March 2022, with delivery expected at the specified location in Chard, England.

This opportunity presents a significant avenue for growth for businesses specialising in solar energy solutions and services, particularly those with expertise in the installation of photovoltaic systems. Companies that provide technology such as SolarEdge inverters, high-quality solar panels, and battery storage solutions would be well-positioned to compete. Furthermore, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in renewable energy technologies are encouraged to participate due to the project's nature and scale, which is suitable for smaller firms looking to expand their portfolio in sustainable energy installations.

Notice Title

Solar Panels, Guildhall

Notice Description

Chard Town Council is seeking quotation proposals to install a 10.72kWp three phase grid connected solar PV system and battery storage. The specification of the system is a 10.72 kWp Three phase grid connected solar PV system 32 Q-Cells 335 Watt all black monocrystalline modules, a Schletter mounting frame with three phase SolarEdge hybrid inverter, LG Chem 10kW RESU battery, monitoring and power optimisers The solar array would be mounted on the two west south west facing roofs of the building, furthest south (nearest to the supermarket). On each of these roofs up to 16 panels (subject to planning advice available on request) will be installed in four rows of four panels, all in portrait orientation. The panels must be well sealed against the elements and suitable for coastal and agricultural locations. They should come with at least a 12 year product warranty and a 25 year performance warranty. We have been advised that a system with a SolarEdge inverter and power optimisers will perform better than a system using a standard string inverter because each panel is allowed to work to its full potential and does not haveits output 'dragged' down by a weaker or shaded panel elsewhere in the system. The LG Chem RESU battery charges and discharges is an attempt to minimise what is imported and what is exported to the grid. It links in with the SolarEdge monitoring allowing the Town Council to see how much power is being stored and self-consumed
