Summary of the contracting process

The Northern Lighthouse Board (NLB) is initiating a tender process for "The Supply of Mooring Components," primarily targeting companies within the goods industry, specifically related to chains. This procurement is based in Scotland and it falls under an open procedure methodology. The tender period is set to end on 26th November 2021, with the contract duration starting from 1st December 2021 and concluding on 29th April 2022. The total estimated value of the contract is £207,000, and the requirements are for various sizes of chain and associated mooring components to support NLB's floating aids-to-navigation systems across United Kingdom waters.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to engage in public procurement within the maritime industry. Companies supplying marine equipment, particularly those specialising in chains and mooring components that comply with Lloyds Rules ISO 1704, would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. The interim nature of this procurement could also enable new entrants or those without previous contracts to gain vital experience in public sector supply, promoting growth and establishing a foothold in future collaborative joint procurements.
