Summary of the contracting process

The General Medical Council (GMC) is conducting a tender for the "State of Medical Education and Practice Barometer Survey," focusing on research services. This procurement process is currently in the active tender stage, with submissions due by 12:00 PM on 13th May 2022. The contract will begin on 13th June 2022 and is set to last until 12th June 2026, with a total value of £670,000. The survey aims to gather insights into the experiences of medical practitioners in the UK, and responses will inform the GMC’s future publications.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses involved in research services, particularly those with experience in conducting large-scale surveys or data analysis in the healthcare sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, as they may offer innovative approaches and flexibility that larger firms might not. The scope for potential growth is considerable, given the tender's multi-year duration and options for extension into 2024 and 2025, inviting a range of specialised firms to compete for long-term engagement with the GMC.

Notice Title

State of Medical Education and Practice Barometer Survey

Notice Description

65 The GMC Barometer survey is a tracking survey that we run every year to find out how doctors' experiences of practising in the UK are changing over time. Since the first Barometer survey in 2019, SoMEP reports have drawn extensively on the findings, including insight on workload pressures, burnout, patient care, and future career intentions. We are asking bidders to tender for the 2022 and 2023 Barometer surveys, with the option for the GMC to extend this to the 2024 and 2025 surveys. Evidence from these annual surveys will underpin our SoMEP publication over the upcoming years.
