Market Testing - Independent Travel Training (ITT)

Notice Description

Camden Council is looking to deliver ITT for Adults (aged 18+) and children and young people (aged 5 to 18 years) with special educational needs and children who have physical and learning disability, with a view to deciding whether and how to recommission this provision. What is ITT? Independent Travel Training is to train service users who currently rely on transport service to become independent and able to travel to school and other destination on their own. In Camden we wish to encourage users of Camden Accessible Travel Solutions transport service and other services within Camden to feel empowered to manage their own travel arrangements. What are the benefits of ITT? Main purpose is to support our users to become more independent and learn life skills. This will also benefit them in other aspects of their life where they will be able to use this skill to carry out social functions. This training will also reduce the dependency on council services and other voluntary sector services and in affect deliver efficiencies. 2. Details of the proposed services Complete home visits to carry out the initial assessment and risk assessment to identify if the service user is ready for ITT and received the sign off from parents. Carry out travel route assessment and create a individualised travel plan with the service user. Test to see if the service user is able to travel independently and sign off from Camden services. Complete database for monitoring and evaluating each service user. Proposed budget We encourage respondents to provide an indicative budget or budget range to deliver the service on a yearly basis. Number of service user to move to ITT We envisage the following number of service users to move from council provided transport to independent travel; 30 in the first year; 25 in the second year; 20 in the third year. Staff We encourage suppliers to provide us with details of the number of staffing (including posts) they require to achive the above outcome. User Group The service user will mainly be; Children with Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) Adults and Children with learning disability Adults and Children with physical disabilities Any other users with complex needs Key objectives: Achieving positive and sustainable outcomes for Adult, Children and Young People with SEND and/or social, emotional and mental health needs. Optimising take-up and raising awareness of the service across education, health and social care providers in Camden. please see the attached questionnaire to find out how to respond to this market testing.
