Summary of the contracting process

The Dorset Care Framework for People with Learning Disabilities is a procurement process led by Dorset County Council in collaboration with the NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. This project aims to establish a new framework arrangement under the Light Touch regime to provide essential care and support services in the community for individuals with learning disabilities. The total contract value is estimated at £165 million, and the procurement method used is an open procedure. The contract period is set to commence on 1 April 2019 and will last until 30 March 2024, with the tender submission deadline having been on 14 December 2018. The opportunity is classified under health and social work services, specifically aimed at helping local communities in the South West of England.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in health and social care services. Businesses with expertise in providing high-quality care, promoting independence, and enhancing community wellbeing would be particularly well-suited to engage in this process. Since the framework is looking to replace an existing purchasing system, businesses that can deliver flexible, affordable, and accessible services to those with learning disabilities will be in a strong position to compete effectively.
