WAT0127-01 Survey, Design and Install New Lock Entrance Gate- B Lock East- Portsmouth Naval Base
Notice Description
The Tenderer should be aware that the works detailed in this package are constrained due to the nature of the location they are to be conducted in. Project location HM Naval Base Portsmouth The Contractor shall be expected to adhere by the His Majesty's Naval Base (HMNB) site security requirements, all Contractors and Sub-Contractors shall be BPSS security vetted and will be required to hold the relevant site security passes. The Contractor shall be expected to hold the following levels of insurance PS10m Public Liability, PS10m Product Liability, PS5m Professional Indemnity. KBS Maritime - Introduction KBS Maritime is a joint venture between KBR and BAE Systems, bringing together two global players with a rich heritage of delivering excellence, innovation and reliability. The joint venture will combine the expertise of KBR as a global leader in infrastructure asset management and services with BAE Systems' experience and capability within Portsmouth Naval Base. KBS Maritime are delivering an ambitious, modern and enduring change to the Portsmouth Naval base infrastructure, securing investment in the local community and ensuring fit-for-purpose, world-leading fleet support for the Royal Navy and the UK in the decades ahead. Project Background KBS Maritime have a requirement for a rolling programme of Ship type caisson replacements, across various locks and docks within HMNB Portsmouth, beginning with the replacement of B Lock East Caisson. A new ship type caisson is to be designed and built off site, transported to site and installed/commissioned. The caisson is to be built to the standard set out in Rules and Regulations for the Construction and Classification of Floating Docks and Dock Gates, the MOD Code for Steel Caissons, and the Design Manual for Road and Bridges. The tenderer shall be able to demonstrate experience of building caissons to these standards. The new caisson system shall be required to operate as rapid opening/closure gate for the non-tidal entrance to a transit lock, a dry-dock dam, and as a pedestrian/vehicular road-bridge. The existing ship caisson is to be removed and disposed of.
