Notice Description

The transport and placement of 1000 tonnes of shingle on an existing ridge on Long Island in Langstone Harbour for the benefit of breeding and roosting shorebirds and seabirds. The enhanced shingle ridge will be approx. 150m in length and backed by a brushwood fence on its western side. These works are being carried out as part of our LIFE on the edge Project, LIFE/UK/964. Co-funded by the European Union and Bird Aware Solent. Preparation and needed documentation to be started in November 2023. Physical works to take place between January and March 2024. This window of opportunity has been selected in order to limit the disturbance to the designated birdlife for whom the project is being carried out. Activities are permitted in April but earlier completion is preferred. Full details in associated documents. Your tender response should be emailed by 09:00 on Wednesday November 1st 2023.
