Summary of the contracting process

The South West London Procurement Partnership is inviting offers on behalf of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust for a fully managed renal dialysis satellite unit in the Crawley area. The service must provide the facilities, dialysis equipment, consumables and renal nursing needed to treat patients receiving care from Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. The existing Crawley unit serves patients from two NHS trusts, but this procurement covers only the Epsom and St Helier cohort; University Hospitals Sussex is procuring separately for its patients. This is a healthcare service combining clinical delivery with the provision and management of a specialist treatment facility. The buyer seeks one provider to deliver the service in line with requirements set out in the tender pack.

The buyer invited offers through an open competitive tender, seeking a single provider. The tender submission deadline is 2 December 2026 at 12:00 UTC. The planned contract period runs from 22 January 2029 to 21 September 2039. The estimated procurement value is £20 million. The published information gives no enquiry deadline or evaluation criteria, so the basis on which bids will be scored cannot be summarised here. The tender is for the Crawley-area service and covers the patient cohort treated by Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, rather than the full activity of the existing joint unit. Current and estimated patient numbers are to be set out in the tender documentation. The process is at the tender stage: suppliers have been invited to submit offers.

This opportunity is suited to an established renal care provider able to take responsibility for an end-to-end dialysis service, rather than a supplier of equipment or consumables alone. The successful supplier must be able to provide and manage a suitable satellite facility in the Crawley area, supply haemodialysis equipment and renal consumables, and deliver treatment through qualified renal nursing staff. Bidders should have the operational capacity to coordinate clinical services, facilities, equipment and ongoing consumables as one integrated service for NHS patients. The buyer states that it seeks experienced and qualified organisations and a high-quality, cost-effective solution. The scope is limited to the Epsom and St Helier patient cohort, with patient numbers detailed in the tender pack; providers should assess that service demand against their staffing, facility and delivery capacity.

Notice Title

Fully Managed Renal Dialysis Satellite Unit in Crawley Area

Notice Description

South West London Procurement Partnership (SWLPP), on behalf of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust (ESTH) (the "Authority") invites tenders from experienced and qualified organizations for the provision of a fully managed renal satellite dialysis satellite unit located in the Crawley area, providing all the facilities, equipment, consumables and renal nursing services required to deliver a fully managed renal dialysis satellite unit. The objective of this competitive tender exercise is to select a single provider capable of delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions in accordance with the specifications detailed in the Tender Pack. A detailed Specification of Requirements is included in the Tender Documentation. Please note, the current Crawley renal dialysis satellite unit is a joint venture between Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust (ESTH) and University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSx). Patients from both Trusts currently receive treatment at the Crawley unit. At the time of the pre-market engagement, both Trusts fully intended reprocuring the Crawley unit jointly. However, it has since been agreed that each Trust will independently procure a solution for their own cohort of patients from the Crawley area. This tender will only include activity numbers for patients under the treatment of Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust (ESTH). Current and estimated numbers will be included in the Tender Documentation.
