Businesses engaged in the supply, installation, and management of electric vehicle charging points would be particularly suited to compete for this contract. The need for enhanced electric vehicle infrastructure is expected to increase due to the growing demand for electric vehicles in the UK, particularly following the government’s commitment to banning the sale of fossil-fuelled vehicles by 2040, making this an attractive sector for business growth.

Notice Title

GB-Brentwo: Electric Vehicle Charging Points and Feasibility Study

Notice Description

NOTE: This notice was updated on 27 January 2020 for the following reason: This tender has been withdrawn --- no award made.(Brentwood Borough Council operates a number of car parks within the Town and local area. Over the last three years, there has been a rise in demand for electric vehicles in the UK which is likely to increase with as a consequence of central government's announcement of the ban on the sale of exclusively fossil-fuelled vehicles with effect from 2040. To respond to this increase, and to ensure Brentwood has the necessary infrastructure in place, the Council wishes to engage with the market and initially develop a pilot on a single site. Following a successful pilot bid the council will seek to expand the provision based on a Borough wide feasibility plan. The pilot will be for the supply, installation, commissioning, maintenance and management (including payment collection) of 8 x Double - connector AC Charge points for electric vehicles at the Town Hall, Brentwood, for residents, employees, shoppers, visitors, commercial fleets and motorcycles.) Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
