Summary of the contracting process

Cornwall Council is in the planning stage of a public procurement process for the "Care Homes and Extra Care" project, categorised under social work services with accommodation (CPV code 85311000). This initiative, taking place in England, United Kingdom, involves the creation and management of new build care homes and extra care housing. A Market Engagement event is scheduled for 24th September 2024, from 10:30 to 15:00, to gather insights from prospective providers. Key engagement activities for this tender will conclude on 31st December 2024. The project is expected to address the provision of an additional 825 residential care beds, 2,901 nursing care beds, and 3,882 extra care units by 2050, with a core budget of £100,000,000.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in construction, healthcare provision, and housing management to engage with Cornwall Council's long-term strategy and secure lasting contracts. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly encouraged to participate, either independently or in partnership. The procurement method promotes a collaborative approach, offering a broad scope for participants to influence and shape the future service delivery framework, thereby fostering substantial business growth and community support.
