Summary of the contracting process

The recent procurement process titled "VegPower - Seasonal Vegetable Campaign" was initiated by the Defra Network eTendering Portal, based in London, England. This project aims to enhance vegetable consumption among children and families, especially in light of challenges posed by the Covid-19 situation. The procurement method chosen was a direct one, specifically a single tender action, with a noted contract value of £20,000. Key dates include the tender period which ended on 10 April 2020, and the contract period running from 11 May 2020 to 29 June 2020. The procurement is classified under services in the communications industry category.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses engaged in health promotion, nutrition education, and food-related campaigns. Companies that can leverage strong connections with schools, local communities, or have expertise in social media marketing are particularly well-suited to participate. Moreover, as VegPower CIC is a not-for-profit organisation, there could be room for collaborative efforts with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that align with the campaign's goals, ultimately fostering a collaborative environment for business development.

Notice Title

VegPower - Seasonal Vegetable Campaign

Notice Description

The current Covid-19 situation has impacted the food and farming industry dramatically and government has been called upon to offer support in these unprecedented times. In order to provide that support, we need to act quickly to on board a partner who can offer strong connections and industry knowledge, as well as deliver best value for money and meet our campaign objectives. VegPower CIC are a non-for-profit organisation focused on encouraging kids and families to eat more vegetables. They run programmes for schools and have developed good relationships with celebrity chefs and nutritionists who usually support them with videos on social media. As such, they are the only industry-wide organisation with capacity to meet our brief, provide the connections and channels for our planned campaign activity. We will work with colleagues in Public Health England to ensure the project achieves Value for Money and Return on Investment, adhering to our campaign's rigorous evaluation standards. We will be taking on board previous campaign activity to procure the best coverage available and to ensure fair costs are obtained. Additional information: Please note that Defra procurement uses an E-tendering system for Procurement activities. This is currently provided by Bravo Solutions.
