Summary of the contracting process

The MHRA Buyer Organisation is currently in the planning stage of procuring a Fluorescent Microscope with Camera, specifically designed for benchtop use. This procurement falls under the industry category of microscopes, as classified by the CPV code 38510000. The initiative is based in Potters Bar, East of England, with a crucial engagement deadline set for 12 March 2019. Interested vendors are encouraged to express their interest via email to Nawaz Habib at the provided contact details. If no satisfactory submissions are received by the deadline, a direct award may be made to a preferred supplier.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in laboratory equipment and imaging technology, especially those capable of meeting the specified technical requirements, such as LED illumination, motorised stages, and user-friendly imaging software. Companies with expertise in high-precision instruments and automation technologies will be well-placed to compete. Engaging in this procurement process could help manufacturers and suppliers in the life sciences sector expand their market presence and drive growth through collaboration with a prominent regulatory body like MHRA.

Notice Title

Fluorescent Microscope with Camera

Notice Description

The agency is looking to purchase an inverted Fluorescent Microscope with Camera of compact design for normal benchtop use. Essential requirements are as follows: Light illumination by LED for white light source and broader fluorescence excitation, preferably with brightfield capability and a minimum requirement for 4 fluorescence filter cubes that cover the visible light range. The microscope must have a motorized stage with broad vessel compatibility (including slides and plates), a range of objectives, including 10x, 20x and 40x, and automated focusing capability (preferably hardware based). Camera and imaging software must be user friendly. Additional features that we are also looking for include: flexibility to add filters in the future, multi-channel fluorescence imaging capability, potential for automation/high throughput screening, long working distance lenses and potential for micro-dispensing. Time lapse capability (incl. environmental chamber and CO2) and software image analysis capability (e.g. bar graphs/histograms or scatter plots), would also be desirable features. If you can provide a microscope with all the essential requirements, and ideally with the additional features, please email to Nawaz Habib (nawaz.habib@nibsc.org) to register an interest. If no submissions (by close of play 12 March 2019) of potential interest are received, it is then intended to perform a direct award without competition to the sole supplier we believe can supply this equipment.
