Notice Description

Bristol City Council is engaging the market in order to procure the Maintenance, Installation and upgrading of Highway Electrical Assets in the City of Bristol. The Council owns & manages some 34,000 street lights (over 20,000 having been replaced in recent years) & 15,000 other traffic equipment (e.g. illuminated signs, bollards and pedestrian crossings), using a reactive maintenance policy. The Council also installs, maintains and upgrades electrical infrastructure associated with Electrical Vehicle charging equipment, pumping stations, bus stop, information signs and on street cameras. Pre-planned programmed works are also used on an individual scheme basis. Emergency cover is required both in normal working hours and outside normal working hours. This contract will ensure all electrical assets are monitored, maintained and compliant in accordance with the following legislation and guidance documents: * Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASWA) * Electrical Wiring Regulations BS7671:2018 * IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation 4th Edition * The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR) * The Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM) * The Electricity Safety, Quality & Continuity Regulations (ESQCR) * The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) * The Highways Act 1980 * New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 * The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 (WEEE) * Industry Code of Practices, Guidance Documents and Standards (e.g. ILP) We invite all interested contractors to a supplier's information event on Thursday 3rd December 2020 from 14:00 to 16:00 GMT and recommend that this event is attended if you intend to bid. The Project team will explain the processes and specialist tasks required for high quality delivery of this project, and the form of tender and contract we will use.
