Summary of the contracting process

The Civil Works Alliance invites tenders for a significant steel fabrication contract titled "Cut & Bend Fabrication," valued between £50 million and £70 million. The procurement is classified under the steel industry and is located in the East of England, United Kingdom. The procurement is currently at the tender stage, with the tender period ending on 19th March 2026. The contract is set to commence on 30th July 2026, with completion expected by 31st August 2034. Interested suppliers should prepare to supply substantial quantities of fabricated steel, including an estimated 55,434 tonnes and multiple swages over the contract duration. The project requires suppliers to align with a work packaging approach akin to an IKEA-style kit of parts to enhance onsite productivity and comply with rigorous Supplier Quality Plan standards.

This tender offers lucrative growth opportunities for businesses specialising in steel fabrication and associated industries, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) poised to innovate in alignment with this structured approach. The contract's extended timeline and significant volume can provide sustained business for qualified fabricators able to meet the quality and traceability requirements outlined. The Civil Works Alliance seeks suppliers capable of supporting onsite productivity through innovative practices while efficiently managing costs associated with the project's unique work packaging approach. Suppliers with experience in fabricating large steel quantities that adhere to high-quality standards are well-suited to bid for this tender.
