Notice Description

Leicester City Council (the Authority) invites Tenders for the provision of highway signage consultants as part of the Legible Leicester project. The aim of the Legible Leicester project is to deliver a comprehensive and integrated wayfinding, transport and visitor information system, as well as to develop a city identity to shape the use of typography, colour and other design elements within the system. The Legible Leicester project comprises the following main work streams: * Provision of a network of cycle and pedestrian signs and information panels/maps across the whole city centre area. * Provision of new/consolidated highway vehicular signage across the whole city area, focussing primarily on the main road network. * Provision of a new car park Variable Message Signing system also capable of displaying other information as well. * City Boundary sign replacement. The proposed wayfinding system will influence user behaviour across all transport modes by revealing the city as an accessible, walkable and vibrant place with a range of character areas and themed activities promoting longer stays and repeat visits. Providing a clear information system that promotes ease of movement and healthier lifestyle choices is vital in helping people make the most of the city. Some of the outputs from this project which will benefit the city are listed below: * Availability of information before embarking on a journey to the city centre. * Clear, easy to follow directions into the city centre from different routes and gateways. * Boundary signs and brown tourist signs that reflect the pride and exciting city offer. * An easy to understand car parking directional variable messaging signage scheme. * Access to information at arrival hubs. * A pedestrian wayfinding system in the city centre that places a venue/area/attraction in context to the urban geography, promotes accessibility and encourages pedestrians to explore different character districts and discover the wide variety of venues and attractions. * Print ready maps that interpret the wayfinding system for a variety of uses. * Cycle signs integrated into citywide signing network. * Interpretation panels relating the history and heritage of the city. * 3-D mapping system highlighting key areas and destinations. * Accessible information using various mediums. All submission must be processed via Due North and submitted no later than 12:00hrs (noon) on Monday 15th February 2016.
