Award of a contract without prior publication of a call for competition in the Official Journal of the European Union in the cases listed below: The products involved are manufactured purely for the purpose of research, experiment, study or development under the conditions stated in the directive The works, supplies or services can be provided only by a particular economic operator for the following reason: absence of competition for technical reasons. The chromium controller supplied by 10x Genomics Inc is a cutting edge technology which allows single cell sequencing to be performed at scale and allowed researcher at Newcastle University to fulfil research requirements in accordance with grant funding and participate in large scale research consortia such as the human cell atlas project. There are no comparable products available which allows analysis with the sample size to produce the same quantity of data.
