Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Justice is initiating a procurement process for "Probation Services - Accredited Programmes and Unpaid Work," aimed at delivering probation intervention and rehabilitation services across England and Wales. The current stage of this procurement is in planning, with a key engagement end date set for 10th June 2019. The services sought include provisions for unpaid work, accredited rehabilitation programmes for offenders (excluding sex offenders), and supportive interventions. The procurement activities are expected to commence in autumn 2019 and conclude in summer 2020. Interested suppliers are encouraged to participate in a series of market engagement events scheduled between May and July 2019, with initial events taking place in London, Cardiff, and Manchester from 28th to 30th May 2019.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on social rehabilitation, particularly those offering community service solutions, accredited training programmes, and innovative rehabilitation strategies. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary and community sector enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly well-suited to compete for these contracts, as the procurement aims to engage a diverse range of suppliers and foster innovative approaches in managing probation services. Companies looking to expand their influence in the public sector should consider attending the planned engagement events to better understand the requirements and build relationships with the Ministry of Justice's procurement team.
