PROVISION OF A PILOT FOR ADVANCED NUCLEAR SKILLS AND INNOVATION RESEARCH CAMPUS

Notice Description

The campus pilot objectives are: 1. A Gap analysis of current R&D skills and facilities versus those needed for Deployment of advanced nuclear technologies, to inform future collaborations and investment. This will be completed by the end of the campus pilot (31/03/22) and will be in the form of reports provided to BEIS. 2. Have a physical campus (with office and laboratory space) on a nuclear licensed site, where academia and the private sector can utilise for accelerating technology deployment. The campus should be up and running 3 months after the delivery partner is engaged, with at least one pilot project complete by the end of the campus pilot (31/03/22). 3. Sufficient monitoring and evaluation of campus benefits and opportunities to develop a robust business case for potential future investment. This information will be required to feed into the spending review proposal (estimated September 2022) and include information to support all five business case sections. 4. Accessible catalogue of skills, activities and facilities with clear process on how to utilise the information. This will be completed by the end of the campus pilot (31/03/22) and will clearly identify features across the UK nuclear sector. It should be an accessible format (such as internet based), complement other UK information sets and have clear links to wider (non UK) information sets. 5. On site training delivered to a undergraduates and post graduates. This will be completed by the end of the campus pilot (31/03/22) and include 2 overseas knowledge transfers 2 masters placements and a larger number of Nuclear taster sessions (ideally aimed at those Not in Education, Employment or Training, NEET).
