NHS Digital is leading on the technological and digital elements of the COVID Test, Trace and Contain (TTC) programme working closely with the Department of Health and Social care (DHSC) and NHS Test and Trace. Testing is a key pillar of the Government's strategy to protect the NHS and save lives. The Government is committed to mass testing and its strategy can be located at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-scalingup-testing-programmes Tests in the UK are carried out through different routes: - pillar 1: swab testing in Public Health England (PHE) labs and NHS hospitals for those with a clinical need, and health and care workers - pillar 2: swab testing for the wider population, as set out in government guidance - pillar 3: serology testing to show if people have antibodies from having had COVID19 This contract is for the service is for the supplier to facilitate messaging between pathology labs so all test results and requests can be processed digitally.
