Summary of the contracting process

The Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a contract for the provision of NIPE Credits, an education and training service in North Shields, England. The contract, with an estimated value of 11,250 GBP, was awarded to Teesside University. The tender was initiated as a competitive quotation process in the services category. The contract period is scheduled to start on October 13, 2023, and last for 24 months, ending on October 12, 2024.

This tender opportunity presents a chance for businesses, particularly SMEs and VCSEs, to engage in providing education and training services to the healthcare sector. Companies interested in delivering face-to-face teaching alongside a blended approach for theoretical components would be well-suited to compete. The buyer organisation, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, has demonstrated a preference for flexibility by considering multiple providers if they meet the necessary requirements, offering a potential growth opportunity for suitable businesses.

NIPE Credits

Notice Description

Delivery of 20 credit module (or as part of a framework) available at both level 6 and 7 for Physical assessment of the new-born (NIPE) or equivalent. Which allows registered midwives and neonatal nurses to undertake routine physical examination of the newborn. Learning outcomes (similar or equal to): 1. Understand and appraise the principles of screening and physical assessment standards applied to the Newborn 2. Understand and demonstrate an informed understanding of the newborn parameters of health and wellbeing 3. Demonstrate competence to perform the Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) screening and examination of the newborn 4. Able to critically appraise evidence and research, and draw conclusions of its usefulness to inform newborn examination and care practice 5. Evaluate your professional role, and personal responsibility when assuming the remit as a NIPE practitioner We estimate approx. 12-15 staff to complete per annum and would like this contract to last 24 months. We are open to using more than one provider should we have multiple providers that meet our needs and allow flexible choice for students. In the event of using multiple providers, we will liaise with finance teams re: process for payment. We would like an element of face-to-face teaching for physical assessment components of the module but are happy with a blended approach used to teach the theoretical components.
