Summary of the contracting process

The University of Wolverhampton is seeking to establish a contract for a Library Service Platform and Discovery Layer, along with a Resource List Management System. This tender is classified under the library software package industry category and is currently in the active tender stage, with a submission deadline of 11th October 2017. The total estimated value of the contract is £926,000. The successful solutions must operate within a multitenant cloud-hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) architecture and provide comprehensive features to enhance the university's library services, which will be operational from 4th January 2018 through 3rd January 2023. The project is planned under an open procurement method and seeks to minimise the need for extensive local systems expertise.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses that specialise in providing library management software and integrated educational technology solutions. Companies with strengths in cloud-based systems and those offering automation tools for educational institutions would be particularly well-suited to compete. The requirements for flexibility, integration with existing systems, and the ability to deliver a wide range of academic resources suggest that innovative technology providers could greatly benefit from this contract, thus facilitating potential business growth within the educational sector.
