Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves NHS England, which is seeking a supplier for the "Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMA) psychological training boost" initiative. This service falls under the health services industry category, with an estimated value of £40,000. The procurement method used is a limited competitive quotation below threshold, currently in the award stage. The contract period begins on 13 January 2022 and concludes on 31 March 2022. The training is set to be delivered virtually to approximately 800 PMAs across England, with the tender period having closed on 2 December 2021.

This tender presents a rich opportunity for businesses that specialise in health training services, particularly those focused on psychological support and wellbeing training. Companies that can deliver virtual training sessions tailored to healthcare professionals would be particularly well-suited to compete. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to expand their services in the healthcare sector can leverage this opportunity to partner with NHS England and contribute significantly to the support of PMAs in managing mental health challenges exacerbated by the pandemic.

Notice Title

Professional Midwifery Advocates (PMA) psychological training boost

Notice Description

NHS England & NHS Improvement (NHSEI) required a supplier to deliver a bespoke RCS training and psychological support 'boost' to all existing PMAs in England. This will help ensure PMAs can provide effective RCS to the workforce during and after the pandemic. Training will be provided to all existing PMAs. Training will need to be delivered virtually/remotely, which we anticipate of being delivered to groups of up to 20 PMAs. There are approximately 800 PMAs in post in England, meaning approximately 40 sessions. These sessions will enable PMAs to provide effective RCS in view of the current pressures bought on by the pandemic. For PMAs to: * Understand some common mental health disorders * Understand what trauma looks like * Learn techniques that the PMA's can implement with staff to help them manage emotions, and develop their own coping mechanisms * Learn ways that PMA's can manage their own wellbeing when potentially hearing more traumatic experiences than usual We aim for the training session to commence in January 2022 and completed by March 2022 and for the supplier to provide registration and course administration.
