Summary of the contracting process

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (Solihull MBC) is undertaking a procurement process to establish a Flexible Contracting Arrangement (FCA) for residential and nursing care home beds for older people. The contract falls under the health and social work services category and will be active from 1st September 2021 until 31st August 2026, with an option to extend for up to 48 months. This open procurement procedure allows for ongoing opportunities for providers to join the FCA, with a total projected value of £17.5 million. The initial stage of the procurement has been completed as of 27th September 2021, following the tender deadline that ended on 2nd August 2021. Services must be delivered within the Solihull Borough, specifically in the West Midlands region.

This procurement opportunity is significant for businesses specialising in health and social care services, particularly those providing residential and nursing care for the elderly. Companies with Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) status and Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises (VCSE) are encouraged to participate as the FCA promotes inclusivity and multiple supplier engagement. The arrangement will enable participating businesses to secure contracts through mini-competitions, thus facilitating potential growth and stable income over the contract period as demand for elderly care continues to rise.
