Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is initiating a tender for the Community Ophthalmology Service, aimed at improving eye care for the registered population in Salford. The contract is planned to run for an initial period of three years, starting from 1 August 2018, with an option to extend for a further two years. Businesses interested in this opportunity should note that a formal procurement process is expected to commence in November 2017, with the intention to award the contract by April 2018. The total budget for this contract is approximately £647,015, with a minimum value of £388,209. Providers wishing to express interest must complete the necessary documentation by 12 noon on 2 October 2017.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for qualified healthcare providers, particularly those specialising in ophthalmology services, to support the NHS in delivering necessary patient care in the North West region of England. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations are particularly encouraged to participate in this tender process. Engaging in this opportunity could enhance business growth by establishing long-term contracts within the healthcare sector, especially for companies experienced in patient assessment and management of low-risk eye conditions.
