Summary of the contracting process

The Oxford City Council is procuring earthworks for the Northway & Marston Flood Alleviation Scheme, valued at £300,000. This procurement is currently at the tender stage, with an end date for submissions set for 6th December 2016. The project aims to mitigate surface water flooding in the Northway area and includes extensive excavation and movement of more than 20,000 tonnes of soil. The contract period is slated to begin on 16th January 2017 and conclude by 31st March 2017, with specific deadlines for different phases of the earthworks.

This contract presents a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those specialising in civil engineering, earthmoving, and construction services. Businesses equipped to handle large volumes of excavation and experienced in working on environmental remediation projects, including handling contaminated soil, may find this contract particularly suitable. Engaging in this tender could enhance a company's portfolio and foster relationships in the public sector, ultimately driving growth and sustainability in the competitive market of public works.

Notice Title

Notice Description

The Flood Alleviation Scheme is an Oxford City Council project that has been designed to prevent surface water flooding in Northway. The Northway Marston Flood Alleviation Scheme will include roadworks, construction of a new spillway and holding ponds, plus a new football pitch. There is a large amount of Earthworks required with over 20,000 tonne of soil to be dug and moved within the site, which is larger than we could undertake in house. The scheme involves large volumes of excavation and earth moving which are larger than could be undertaken in house. Scope. This tender is specifically in relation to Earthworks for the Northway Marston Flood Alleviation Scheme only.
