Notice Title

Repair and Restoration of the Grade II listed Sutton Crossroads Cockerel Sign - London Borough of Sutton

Notice Description

London Borough of Sutton (the Council) in partnership with Historic England is undertaking improvement works in the Sutton High Street Crossroads Conservation Area. As part of this initiative the Council are seeking tenders from suitably qualified contractors for the restoration of the Cockerel Sign located at Carshalton Road, Cheam Road and High Street crossroads. The works will comprise the repair of the existing structure and the reinstatement of original features. The Council wish to carry out, as a minimum, a conservation and repair programme to the Cockerel sign as it currently exists. However, assuming that it can be achieved within the available budget the Council is keen to pursue a full restoration scheme to replace the missing features identified on the historic photographs. This aspiration however has more than one option since the sign has gone through a number of changes as detailed in the photographs. This commission has been broken down into two parts (Part A and Part B) and depending on whether or not both parts can be achieved within the budget, the Council reserves the right to only commission Part A at the time of Award.
