Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Blackpool CCG, via NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit, has awarded a contract for the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service, aimed at patients within the CCG area in Blackpool, North West England. The contract, valued at £114,000, was awarded to BOC Ltd after a direct procurement process. This contract is effective from 1st April 2021 and will last for one year, following a standstill period that concludes on 8th February 2021. This service supports patients dealing with respiratory diseases and ensures continuity of care following previous service extensions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This opportunity is particularly beneficial for businesses in the healthcare sector, especially those with expertise in respiratory health services, rehabilitation, and patient care solutions. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) may find prospects as the NHS evaluates its respiratory services during the contract term, potentially leading to further engagement in future procurement activities. Businesses that can demonstrate innovative approaches to patient rehabilitation and continuity of care will be well-positioned to compete for upcoming tenders.
