Notice Description

English Heritage wishes to re-tender the measured term contracts for building maintenance services Lot 18A The Isles of Scilly. All sites are of historic importance. Some may be in remote areas and may be difficult to access The Isles of Scilly comprise of a rugged landscape, which is open to the elements; Some sites require special access arrangements including Kings Charles's Castle and Cromwell's Castle which are only accessible by boat and/or on foot etc. The sites vary significantly in size, complexity, geographical location ruined castles, walls and burial chambers. Almost all are protected as scheduled ancient monuments and /or listed buildings and conservation areas. English Heritage conserves and maintains these properties for the enjoyment of present and future generations. It is essential that English Heritage is able to sustain its commercial assets to the highest standard and that they remain open for safe operation. Delivery of the services will be on the following basis: Planned and preventative maintenance (PPM) including cyclical and routine maintenance and a Response/breakdown repairs service. The service activities are for a)building maintenance contracts covering maintenance to historic and non-historic fabric, above and below ground drainage, cold water supplies, hard landscaping (paths, fences, gates etc.) ; b) minimal mechanical and electrical building services maintenance including the planned and response maintenance and repair covering statutory inspection; and test of ( fixed electrical installation (lights and power) and portable equipment. Specialist equipment and installation will be maintained by others and English Heritage reserves the option to source specialist work outside of the maintenance contracts.
