Notice Description

Newcastle University's current institution wide bespoke HPC service 'Rocket' was launched in 2017. It is available to all staff and students whose computational problems are too large, long or numerous to be easily accommodated on even our most powerful single desktop machine. Rocket is a collection of 'nodes' in a range of 'sizes', but collectively represents over 5000 processor 'cores', offers a range of memory sizes and access to over 500 terabytes (TB) of dedicated storage and is managed and supported by the University's IT Service. The five-year maintenance agreement for Rocket expires on 31st July 2022 and the University is therefore looking to purchase a two-year extended service agreement to ensure that Rocket is support whilst the University plans for our future HPC requirements. This is a further competition to those suppliers be explored via SSSNA - Lot 4 - Reseller Led Solutions including HPC
