Summary of the contracting process

NHS England has recently completed a public procurement process titled "In Practice Development (Clinical Pharmacists)" within the health services industry. This procurement, initiated as part of the General Practice Forward View, aimed to deliver 1,500 additional clinical pharmacists to general practices across England by 2020/21. The contract, valued at £4,100,000, began on 18 March 2019 and will conclude on 18 September 2020. Notice Description

The General Practice Forward View (GPFV) includes a commitment to deliver an additional 5,000 clinical and non-clinical staff in general practices across England. Out of these 5,000 additional staff members there is a commitment to have ''a pharmacist (whole time equivalent) per 30,000 of the population... leading to a further 1,500 pharmacists in general practice by 2020/21''. These additional 1,500 CPs are being recruited and deployed into general practice between April 2017 and March 2020. It is estimated that 5000 general practices will participate in this programme over the next 3 financial years (18/19, 19/20 and 20/21). The key objectives of the programme are: a.
