Summary of the contracting process

A recent public procurement contract has been awarded by NHS England for the development of an Acute Liaison Role toolkit and training package in the education and training services category. The contract value is £150,000, with a tender deadline of September 7, 2022, and a contract period starting on December 7, 2022, and ending on December 6, 2024. The buying organisation, NHS England, located at Quarry House, Quarry Hill in Leeds, is seeking to ensure national consistency in liaison services implementation across England. This tender provides opportunities for businesses, particularly those in the education and training sector, to contribute to enhancing services for people with learning disabilities and their families.

This procurement process, initiated as a tender, is currently at the award stage. NHS England, the contracting authority, has awarded the contract to Changing Our Lives. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are suitable to participate in this open procedure above the threshold. Businesses interested in developing innovative approaches to national healthcare services delivery, especially in the field of learning disabilities and autism, are encouraged to engage with this opportunity. The location for service delivery is specified, with the primary focus on achieving consistent training outcomes for nurses and nursing associates working in the specified area.

Notice Title

Development of Acute Liaison Role

Notice Description

The scope of this contract will be to develop a toolkit and a training package which together will ensure that there is a national consistency of approach to the implementation of liaison services across England. This toolkit should also contain evidence of best practice examples showing case studies of the role and the outcomes for people with learning disabilities and their families. Furthermore, we would expect this work to complement the associated tender to commission the 'Green Light Toolkit' Initiative. The toolkit and training package should be linked to the nearly completed work by the Tavistock and Portman National Workforce Skills Development Unit (NWSDU) to create nationally consistent training for nurses and nursing associates working in this area of learning disability and autism.
