Summary of the contracting process

Aston University is seeking to procure one Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (FNIRS) system, with a total budget of £54,000. This procurement falls under the category of laboratory, optical, and precision equipment. The tender is currently active, with submissions closing on 12 April 2021. The contract is expected to commence on 21 April 2021 and will last until 20 April 2022. The FNIRS equipment will be utilised for various research and teaching activities within the university, particularly in the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience course. The procurement method is an open procedure, allowing any interested parties to submit proposals.

This opportunity is particularly well-suited for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the scientific and educational technology sectors. Businesses that specialise in laboratory equipment, especially those offering portable and cost-effective solutions, could find this tender advantageous for growth. With the FNIRS being a niche product, companies that can demonstrate proficiency in providing advanced neuroscientific instruments or related goods are encouraged to participate, as this could open avenues for collaboration and further contracts with educational institutions.
