Notice Title

Contract Award for the provision of H1V-1 LAg-Avidity ElA to Determine Recency of Infection

Notice Description

Public Health England (PHE) has awarded a contract for the provision of H1V-1 LAg-Avidity ElA kits to Sedia Biosciences Corporation, which is used to monitor recent HIV infection in people in newly diagnosed with HIV as part of national Surveillances. To ensure comparability of data, the same assay is required over time to minimise any variation between assays performance. Sedia LAg assays are used to monitor recent infections in the UK. Sedia Biosciences Corporation is the only manufacturer of the Sedia LAg assay. Alternative LAg assays have been shown to have different performance characteristics following evaluation. Sufficient data have been generated on the Sedia LAg assay to confirm that it meets our performance characteristics and that these data are in line with that published by the manufacturer including an MDRI of approx. 130 days at a normalised ODn of 1.5.
