Summary of the contracting process

The Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a contractor for the supply of vehicle breakdown and recovery services, which includes both urgent and non-urgent response operations. This contract, awarded to G & M J Crouch & Son Ltd t/a Crouch Recovery, amounts to £618,000 and covers services for all vehicles operated by EMAS across the mainland UK, with an active contract period running from 1 August 2020 to 31 July 2023. The tender was initiated on 29 June 2020 and completed on 15 September 2020, reflecting an effective procurement method via a selective call-off from a dynamic purchasing system within the services category, specifically focusing on breakdown and recovery for commercial vehicles.

This procurement presents a significant opportunity for businesses operating in the automotive recovery and logistics sector, particularly those with capabilities in high-quality vehicle recovery services, roadside assistance, and vehicle repatriation. Companies with expertise in managing off-road incidents and comprehensive recovery solutions would be well-suited to participate in future tenders of similar nature, enabling them to expand their service offerings and client base within the healthcare partnership framework across the UK.

Notice Title

Supply of Vehicle Breakdown and Recovery Services (Urgent and Non - urgent)

Notice Description

The provision required by EMAS is for the supply of vehicle breakdown and recovery services (Urgent and Non-urgent). The service is to be provided in respect of all the vehicles operated by EMAS including owned, leased and where applicable short-term hire, covering predominantly EMAS' Lot(s) areas but extended to all areas of the mainland UK as the need may arise for vehicle repatriation. This a rare occurrence. The Supplier shall operate a priority vehicle recovery scheme in line with the SLA, which will ensure that EMAS receives a high-quality recovery, repair, ad-hoc moves, roadside service, mis-fuel service and storage of motor vehicle service within their areas. As our vehicles operate within a range of locations in support of our patients, some recoveries could also be off road. Off road incidents could include, but not be limited to, vehicles in ditches, vehicles stuck in snow, vehicles on roundabouts unable to get off and vehicles overturned.
