Summary of the contracting process

Luton Council is currently conducting a tender process for the "BT1379 Memorial Testing" project, with a budget of £45,000. This initiative falls under the category of "Stone for construction, limestone, gypsum and slate," aimed at ensuring the safety compliance of memorials within the Vale Cemetery and the General Cemetery on Rothsey Road. The tender period is open until 12 April 2021, with the contract set to commence on 24 May 2021 and conclude a year later. Interested providers must be prepared to undertake detailed safety testing in accordance with NAMM guidelines and relevant health and safety legislation.

This procurement presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in memorial maintenance, safety testing, and stonework services to expand their operations within the local government sector. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are particularly well-suited to compete for this contract, as the buying organisation is keen on involving such entities in their initiatives. Companies with expertise in the conservation of historical memorials and those equipped to handle large-scale cemetery projects will find this tender an excellent fit for growth.
