Historic England is a non-Departmental Public Body created by statute in 1983. It was formerly known as 'English Heritage' but changed its name to 'Historic England' in 2015. We are the government's independent expert advisory service for England's historic built environment, providing advice and guidance to local authorities, property owners and the public. We champion historic places and help people to care for them, now and in the future. For more information about Historic England please see our website http://www.historicengland.org.uk/. One of Historic England's core activities is managing grants that are disbursed to appropriate groups and individuals to undertake works that provide services or infrastructure to support heritage. Historic England were recently given approximately PS40 million grant funding as part of a new government initiative to reinvigorate English High Streets and are seeking to implement a software system to help manage this scheme. Historic England are actively seeing to procure a "Commercial off the Shelf" (COTS) software solution and associated delivery and support services.
