Notice Description

Medway Council is looking for an organisation to deliver the Men in Sheds scheme for Medway. The scheme will deliver men in sheds projects in at least two different postcode localities within Medway, targeting men who are either retired or not in work and aged 25+. The service will deliver targeted mental health promotion to participants using a community development approach which will avoid relying on traditional institutional approaches of mainstream health and social care services. The service will also be associated with a range of secondary outcomes, including increased uptake of health promotion activity, improved access to support and additional services, acquisition of practical skills, training or personal development, reduced social isolation and reduced risk of suicide. Overall aims for the project are on a spectrum as follows: * Mental health promotion: promoting mental wellbeing and reducing social isolation * Early intervention: early intervention/prevention for emerging or low level mental health issues. * Suicide prevention: reducing risk in higher risk groups and reducing suicide rates.
