Summary of the contracting process

The Colchester Borough Council is seeking contractors for the "Harrison Court Refit" project, which involves kitchen and bathroom refurbishments at Harrison Court, a sheltered housing scheme in West Mersea, located in the East of England. The procurement is currently at the tender stage, with an end date for submissions set for 9th October 2017. The total contract value is £500,000, with a minimum value of £100,000. This procurement is being conducted through an accelerated negotiated procedure, and the work is expected to commence on 20th November 2017, running until 31st May 2018.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) specialising in construction and refurbishment. Businesses that can demonstrate expertise in kitchen installations, bathroom construction, and building works would be particularly well-suited to compete. The project includes collaboration with mechanical engineers for the simultaneous installation of ground source heat pumps and associated systems, which could create further openings for specialised contractors in those fields.
