Summary of the contracting process

The Council of the Borough of Kirklees has awarded contracts for the provision of 16+ Supported Accommodation Services through its Electronic Market Place (EMP), operating under the Light Touch Regime of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The contracts, pertaining to the health and social work services industry, will address the requirements set forth by the Children's Act 1989 & 2004, aiming to support looked-after children and care leavers. The awarded contracts are managed selectively via a dynamic purchasing system and will commence on 1st April 2024, running until 30th June 2024. The services will be delivered across multiple categories of accommodation, including self-contained units and shared living arrangements, specifically within the Yorkshire and the Humber region, addressing the needs of care leavers and looked-after children.

This tender presents diverse opportunities for businesses specialising in social care services to engage in meaningful work that impacts the community positively. Companies with experience in providing supported accommodation and facilitating the independence of young people aging out of care, particularly SMEs and VCSEs, are well-suited for these projects. With an anticipated annual value of around £3,000,000 and multiple categories of service provision, there is ample room for business growth and development. The selective procurement process ensures that only capable economic operators with relevant expertise are invited, providing a competitive yet promising environment for qualifying businesses to thrive.
