Summary of the contracting process

Cheshire East Council has undertaken a procurement process for "Short stay CCG beds to support hospital discharges (pathway 2)", aimed at providing residential and nursing beds to assist hospital discharges within the North West region of the United Kingdom. This contract, valued at £1,990,144 and funded by the NHS, is currently complete, marking the final stage of the procurement process. The tender was initiated under a direct award setting, with the contract period spanning from 1 April 2022 to 30 September 2022. The tender period concluded on 30 March 2022, and the contract has been awarded following a waiver of the standard procurement method.

This opportunity opens avenues for growth especially for SMEs and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) capable of providing health facility services. Companies with expertise in residential health services, particularly those able to offer flexible short-stay care, can benefit significantly from this contract. With a focus on supporting hospital discharges amidst increased pressure from Covid-19 cases, suppliers that can respond dynamically to healthcare needs in the Cheshire area will find a promising market potential.
