Notice Description

Introduction and Background to the Project Brockhole is the Lake District National Park Authority Visitor Centre, located between Windermere and Ambleside. It consists of a formal house and gardens alongside other activities including water sports and tree top rope courses. The main house was constructed in 1898 as a family residence before being purchased by the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA). The site now attracts in the region of 300,000 visitors a year and is open to the public all year round. The majority are families who visit during school holidays and weekends over the summer. We offer many activities on site including hiring of water based vessels. We are looking to demolish the current old water sports facilities, which is made from two containers on the lakeshore of Windermere and replace this with a new cabin adjacent to another existing cafe cabin of similar design. Tender Objective The Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) invite contractors to submit tenders for the design and construction of a timber clad cabin. The tender should also include removal of the existing containers/structures and immediate landscaping of the site areas at Brockhole Visitor centre in Windermere, Cumbria. Your fee proposal should also include an option for a separate 3-year maintenance contract. The contractor will be expected to submit a fixed fee proposal for the design and build of the water sports cabin and have the capacity to deliver the contract by 17th March 2023. Planning approval has been approved and the planning application documents can be found in annexes along with the conditions of approval. The LDNPA has a limited budget and is looking for a completive bid which can demonstrate good value for money, while providing a quality building which minimises environmental impact and maximises carbon savings. A weighted evaluation will be made on tender returns will be based 50% on cost and 50% on quality of the proposed solution (as detailed in this document).
